About the event

Inspired by My Grandmother’s Hands by Resmaa Menakem & A Time, A Place, Our Gaze curated by Kenneth Scott

This somatic workshop explores ancestral strength as something held and expressed through the body. Drawing inspiration from Resmaa Menakem’s work on embodied healing and from the current gallery exhibition highlighting everyday Black life and self-representation, the practice centers presence, attention, and the wisdom carried across generations.

Through gentle movement, grounding practices, and subtle vibration (such as shaking or humming), participants are invited to experience the body as a place of memory, support, and continuity.

In conversation with the exhibition’s invitation to slow down and look closely, this workshop encourages a similar quality of turning inward, honoring roots and lineage not as history alone, but as lived presence.

No prior yoga experience needed. Chair and mat variations will be offered.

These workshops are made possible thanks to 50 Arrow Gallery. Please consider making…
